Aesthetics and flavors of Culture through Street Photography: 'Re-discovering Vehicles' (Edition: 2/2)

Heya! This post is the sequel of my previous one: Aesthetics and flavors of Culture through Street Photography

Talking about streets, among several other elements, very fascinating one is (different kinds of) vehicles that we spot on the streets. Design and aesthetics of vehicles also vary as we move from one place to another, thus giving a very special touch, of culture, and making them a significant part, reflecting a certain region.

  • Green and yellow looks extremely beautiful together, isn't it?
Since it was the day time, afternoon actually, it was very difficult to capture something that is not underexposed or overexposed: that is, perfect; because it becomes very difficult to see in your camera's screen while on streets when scorching hot sun is just above your head and beating the shit out of you already!

I tried pretty hard, and managed to get some stills, here is from my experience: try to keep your ISO around 100,  shutter speed around 1/200-1/250 second, and aperture around 6.3 to something around 9 or 10. Using these manual settings, along with an idea of what a good frame is, you may manage to get some good shots.

  • Apart from all these manual settings (or the automatic mode works too, sometimes), other very important element is 'perspective', as I always say. Observe the following snap carefully, and you'll see I've clicked this photograph using the 'worm-view technique'(I'll talk about this is detail, in my further posts).
So, this was a vendor stall, left on the sides of an-almost deserted street, and I tried to capture the a contrast between the stillness of the vendor versus the movement in the tempo goods carrier vehicle going, followed by a car.

  • Who says editing is bad? As long as the essence of original photograph isn't lost, editing is a boon.

Moving vehicles, along with one-point perspective, in a city where is life is very fast, and humans almost have everything (materialistically), but mental piece: what could have been better instead of editing the frame into black and white?!

There's a lot more to come. I'll be posting more photographs soon. Till then, stay  tuned!
